Adding the ‘New England Journal of Medicine AI’
The New England Journal of Medicine, published by the NEJM Group, is a highly respected journal, which has created a new edition, NEJM AI, “to advance the understanding and practical application of AI in medicine.”
The Wolters Kluwer Health is a platform that offers “trusted clinical technology and evidence-based responses that drive effective decision-making and outcomes across health care.”
That platform is part of Wolters Kluwer’s “Ovid,” which “helps researchers, librarians, clinicians, and other healthcare professionals find important medical information so that they can make critical decisions to improve patient care, enhance ongoing research, and fuel new discoveries.”
What brings all this together is that the Ovid Wolters Kluwer Health system has an exclusive partnership that allows it to carry the New England Journal of Medicine. And the new AI-focused magazine, the New England Journal of Medicine AI is now becoming available through the platform, which also offers NEJM Evidence, NEJM Catalyst, and NEJM Journal Watch.

Clearly expecting to raise its platform’s visibility in response to the growing interest in AI development, Wolters Kluwer Health senior vice-president and general manager of health research Rafael Sidi is quoted, saying, “With the proliferation of generative AI (GenAI) applications across industries, it’s clear that AI will have a profound impact on healthcare. …
“The medical field is at a pivotal juncture, with technology rapidly revolutionizing patient care to improve outcomes significantly. NEJM AI serves as a critical resource for clinicians, researchers, health-care leaders, and policymakers globally, focusing on the transformative role of AI and machine learning.”
Isaac Kohane
Speaking for New England Journal of Medicine AI, its editor-in-chief Isaac Kohane says, “NEJM AI will apply the same rigorous standards as our flagship journal to determine which AI tools are ready for use in medical settings.
“We’re not only publishing high-quality original research but aim to build a community of engagement that fosters open conversation among AI developers, clinicians, researchers, healthcare leaders and government officials.”

NEJM AI Grand Rounds is a podcast on issues in artificial intelligence, machine learning, and medicine.
And meanwhile, Wolters Kluwer says in its media messaging, the Ovid research platform offers a “library of thousands of full-text journal articles, ebooks, database resources, and workflow tools in a single, integrated solution.”
The company also adds a word about its own stance on AI, writing, referring members of the press to its “AI Principles,” which comprise statements on:

- Transparency and “explain-ability”
- Governance and accountability

- Human Focus
