The Center for Publishing, Writing, and Media at New York University’s School of Professional Studies has announced its lineup of speakers for January’s Advanced Publishing Institute, which runs from January 5 to 9 in Manhattan.

The annual five-day intensive program is geared toward mid- to senior-level publishing professionals who are looking to help expand their networks, gain insight into the evolving publishing marketplace, and hear from key speakers based in various areas of publishing.

The program, a successor to the Yale Publishing Course, is an executive education course and includes workshops, strategy sessions, and industry case studies to help expand the knowledge, professional toolkits, and business of the attendees.

This year’s program is to include topics such as the continued rise of audio; book-to-screen and streaming; direct-to-consumer promotion; the changing marketplace; and the internationalization of stories through translation. A general sequence of the five day’s topical areas:

  • Day 1 – “Building Consumer Connections: Turning Interest Into Sales”
  • Day 2 – “The Power of Video Messaging and Newsletters to Amplify Content”
  • Day 3 – “The Next Wave of AI: Rethinking Search and Embracing Customization”
  • Day 4 – “International Markets: Discover Where Readers are Buying, and Why”
  • Day 5 – “The New Sound of Audio: Niche and Hyper-Personalization”

Speakers include Jon Yaged, CEO of Macmillan Publishers; authors Malcolm Gladwell and Adriana Trigiani; Storytel chief content and publishing officer Helena Gustafsson; Javier Celaya, founder of the consultancy Dosdoce.com; HarperVia editorial director Juan Milà; and Princeton University Press director Christie Henry; and speakers from Substack, Spotify, LinkedIn, Circana, Book of the Month Club, and other companies. The agenda and speakers can be found here.
