‘Peer Guidance and Support’
During the upcoming Sharjah Booksellers Conference in the United Arab Emirates on Saturday and Sunday (April 28 and 29), the PublisHer program will introduce a new “PublisHer Lounge” series of events exclusively for women in publishing.
Women who will be at the conference can now learn more about these events at the PublisHer site. Advance registration for the sessions is here.
PublisHer founder Bodour Al Qasimi, the chair of the Sharjah Book Authority, which is staging the Booksellers Conference’s third year, tells Publishing Perspectives, “PublisHer has always sought to help women pursuing careers in publishing by building our international network and creating access to peer guidance and support.
“We’ve created the first PublisHer Lounge as a space where women can still meet and network, but they also access hands-on advice and assistance, such as professional headshots, tips on building your personal brand, and optimizing your LinkedIn profile. We’re also offering a program of thematic sessions by experienced industry experts, who will impart frontline knowledge that participants can take away and put to use as soon as they’re back at work.
“The concept of the PublisHer Lounge signals a new approach marked by our intention to bring immediate, practical value to bookwomen, in addition to the overarching network building.”
